Make, Create, and Innovate at the Idea Lab!

We are excited to welcome new and returning students, staff and faculty to the Idea Lab for the Fall semester.  

The Idea Lab is a collection of media production studios, fabrication tools and digital resources for current students, faculty and staff at Humber and University of Guelph-Humber.  

Create a prototype, record a podcast, stage a photoshoot, produce a video, design marketing materials – your imagination is the limit! 

The Idea Lab has locations at both North and Lakeshore campuses, and beginning September 16th, 2024, we will be open for bookings Monday to Friday, 9am – 4pm.

Book a Studio 

Idea Lab spaces feature specialized tools and equipment to turn your creative vision into reality, including: 

• 3D printers 
• Laser and vinyl cutters 
• Sewing and embroidery machines 
• Heat presses 
• Audio recording studios 
• Video and photography studios

You can reserve spaces using our booking calendar. We do welcome students who wish to use the spaces for personal projects. However, priority will be given to students working on assignments.

Borrow Equipment at Lakeshore 

Visit the Lakeshore Idea Lab to borrow camera kits, audio recorder kits, tripods and other accessories. Equipment is available to students and employees from all areas of the college.

Discover Online Resources 

Browse a list of resources and tutorials to guide you through our fabrication tools and help you create digital media such as podcasts, videos and infographics.

Attend Workshops 

Our workshops will teach you how to shoot a video, build a simple website, use a 3D printer and more. We also host open lab sessions where you can work on projects with the Idea Lab team nearby for guidance.

Get Help with Assignments 

Need technical guidance or troubleshooting with a digital media assignment? Or maybe you just want an expert nearby while you work. The Idea Lab team is here to help.
