Game-Based Learning

A resource guide for people interested in learning more about game-based learning.

Welcome!

Humber and University of Guelph-Humber Library has board games and videogames available for students, staff, and faculty to borrow and use. This collection includes over 80 board games and videogames for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch home console systems.  While users are more than welcome to borrow these materials for their leisure and personal use, the Library is committed to promoting game-based learning and pedagogy through play.

Games can play an important part in a reimagining of learning that centers the playful through play-promoted creativity, embodied learning, and active engagement. Games break the ice, foster collaboration, introduce new concepts, and help students engage with complex issues in approachable, meaningful ways. We invite the Humber and Guelph-Humber community to learn about the possibilities of playful pedagogy and how games can be leveraged in their own classrooms and departments to supplement traditional education models.

Have an idea for incorporating a game into your classroom or department? Interested in learning more about how game-based learning can help students meet learning outcome or enhance college life and community? Do not hesitate to get in touch with the Librarians on this page.
